In 1948 Atlantic Research began developing propellant for the Department of Defense (DOD). With its first DOD contract in 1949, Atlantic Research became a leader in propellant development.

Now years later ARC has patented a unique propellant technology. This technology with its various formulations is exclusive to ARC Automotive enhancing ARC’s ability to achieve the best in inflator performance.

ARC's patented non-AN propellant is developed specifically for hybrid inflators.

ARC manufactures this propellant and its derivatives at Hartsville, TN.
